Job 14: Grief is the most unwelcome emotion of our culture. We are expected to suppress it and get back to work, get on with life. When someone dies, or when we suffer a great loss, we may feel so worn down by the burden that we want to scream at God and cry out that it’s just so unfair. Our oldest Bible story, Job, is more honest that we will ever be about feelings and emotions that border on despair and yet do not lose faith and hope in God.
